Briefly....

Had another class yesterday afternoon 3pm to 6pm. Good kids, great kids that we've had before. When it ended, another (different) group of great kids came in with a pumpkin and a knife. Yep, they wanted us to help them carve it up for Halloween, something they had never done before. Our university liaison was having none of that (and frankly I don't blame her), so John drew an outline on the pumpkin and told them to take it outside.

They left giggling and bouncy and excited for the task. We gathered our things and walked out into the cool of the evening. Very, very nice evening in Russia. A full moon.

Rick, David, and I live directly behind the university (a five minute walk to our flat), and as we approached the courtyard...there they were trying to carve the pumpkin! Rick being Rick tossed his backpack on the ground, grabbed the knife, and got them started because they were having trouble with the top.

It's the simple things, the little things that create relationships. It's spending time with people. That's where it starts.
